In 2011, we were hired by NexGen Storage, a data storage startup created by veterans of the successful Lefthand Networks, to create a brand platform to get the company off the ground and a digital presence that would be heavily integrated with the sales process. Ongoing work with NexGen storage has refined and strengthened the brand until NexGen’s acquisition by FusionIO for to sum of 119 million dollars.
Brand development from the ground up
What originally sold NexGen on Elevated Third was our technical expertise, but we proved our creative chops by creating a smart, elegant brand that could represent the company until their eventual acquisition. Beginning with simple sketches, we worked closely with NexGen’s marketing team to develop a mark and logo treatment that reflected their values: precision, reliability, and technical innovation. We extended the brand through sales materials, trade show displays, landing page design for a cohesive presence in all channels.
Drupal, CRM and marketing automation
The Drupal component for NexGen was deeply integrated with their CRM and marketing automation platform. This allowed the NexGen sales team to know where leads were coming from and what they engaged with on the site in order to know how best to follow up. Engagement tactics included a storage cost estimate tool to dynamically generate reports in exchange for contact information, providing value to the customer and a lead to the sales team.
Product UI design
Part of NexGen’s offering, in addition to storage hardware configurations, was a user interface for server management. We designed the visual elements to be engaging and user-friendly, with components that translate complex data into easily digestible dashboard widgets that can be configured on the fly.
