To pay homage to the talented creator of Marvel Comics, Stan Lee, this blog post will incorporate a nod to one of his classics, X-Men.

Student Orientation

Specialized youngsters from all over the world found themselves shoulder-to-shoulder in Austin, TX for what we call, Drupal’s School for Gifted Youngsters or better known as Acquia Engage 2018. And much like each of the storied heroes from X-Men such as Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm, each organization in attendance brought a special set of skills to aid in the fight against Magneto’s evilness, or in the case, proprietary Content Management Systems.

The fearlessly innovative leader Acquia, also known as Professor X, provided the key platform for all to express, understand, and build upon their individual talents by turning the unimaginable into reality through the power of Drupal.

Inside the Classroom

Whether gathered inside a large conference hall or a small breakout session room, the students of Acquia Engage were fully immersed into how to make the world a better and safer place, one digital initiative at a time.

From honing their personalization expertise through Acquia Lift to better adapt to the ever-changing digital world, to building, updating, and centralizing hundreds of Drupal websites at a global scale through Acquia Cloud Site Factory, each speaker taught the methods to guarantee maximum ROI and effectiveness for their digital platforms/ecosystems.

Because at the end of the day, as an open-source community, we are only as good as our latest update and in order to ensure a prosperous future for generations to come, we must take action and work collaboratively.

Acquia Engage, or Drupal’s School for Gifted Youngsters, enables organizations of all shapes and sizes to find common Drupal ground and form foundational pillars in each site build by leaning on powerful Acquia products such as Acquia DAM, a cloud-based digital asset management tool and central library for all of your site’s images, logos, videos, pdfs and more, all in one place and easy to update. Now, organizations can manage their assets and achieve brand consistency.

Key Learnings

Before attending Acquia Engage, some organizations were unaware of their talents and how to properly use them. Some may say they felt outcasted and confused. The clouds parted as each discussion topic unfolded at Acquia Engage, addressing the very issues keeping organizations up at night such as large content and data migrations, backend admin experience, establishing strategic user workflows, and integrating tracking and analytics software to increase lead generation.

Speakers from Juggernaut corporations such as, Wendy’s, NBC Sports, Charles Schwab, and Paychex, joined in on the conversation too, sharing their success stories of how the gifted Drupal youngsters played a crucial role in their digital efforts of dominance. From Fresh, Never Frozen content on Wendy’s new personalization-driven website, to NBC Sports broadcasting a global live streaming of every major sporting event, including The Olympic Games, on a single platform, attendees absorbed all the successes and packaged them up to take with and build upon.

Class Dismissed

As our amazing Drupal community continues to grow, becomes more advanced with our skills, and improves the digital ecosystem for many organizations to come, remember this — we are all fighting for the future of open source. This scholastic year has been one for the books and we look forward to joining all of our classmates again next year when Professor X, a.k.a. Acquia, takes Engage 2019 to New Orleans, Louisiana!
