iMIS/Drupal Integration with Custom Modules
Gamma Phi Beta needed a seamless custom integration between iMIS and Drupal to effectively manage membership data and improve the overall member experience.
iMIS is a membership and financial management system that helps associations and nonprofits manage its people, resources, and organization. It offers member self-service, private communities, social engagement and facilitates administrative tasks such as donations and event registration. If you’re managing a membership database, you want iMIS in your corner.
We worked with Gamma Phi Beta to design and develop a new website for the Sorority. During the redesign, our team came across the integration issue with their CMS Drupal and iMIS.
Associations like Gamma Phi Beta, an international sorority with over 195,000 members worldwide, rely on their websites and software to serve the needs of their members. With no direct access to iMIS, Gamma Phi Beta had been relying on a third party company and was facing some integration challenges. Members had to login multiple times while trying to accomplish a single task, and access to data was lagging, creating extra work for staff.
We were able to give GPB full control over their membership data and direct access to iMIS through Drupal. In short, we eliminated the middle man with a well-implemented integration.
We developed custom Drupal modules that seamlessly handled the data exchange from iMIS to Drupal. One custom module integrates authentication between Drupal and iMIS and accomplishes the single sign-on goal required by the project. After a user is authenticated, the module checks with iMIS to ensure the most current data for the selected member and, if needed, transfers the most recent data from iMIS to Drupal.
With our custom modules, a direct integration with a Drupal CMS and iMIS association management system is possible. This was a big exploration of iMIS for Elevated Third, and we hope to share our new skills with future clients.
